- Have students find the word fire in each box. As they are found, ask students to underline the i and e in the word. Practice reading the word.

Materials: Fire Safety Scavenger Hunt sheets, clipboards, pencils
- Students will discover and identify all the fire safety items in and around their school!
- Before beginning the activity, discuss the different items on the Fire Safety Scavenger Hunt sheet. What does each item do? Where might you see these items?
- Then provide each student with a clipboard and pencil. Begin walking around the school and have students be on the lookout for items from the list.
- As volunteers find an item, the group can stop and each student can make a tally mark in the box.
- Return back to the classroom and discuss the findings: What did the class find the most of?
